Product Description

A memoir by the South African icon Pieter-Dirk Uys in which he reveals the ‘person behind the persona.’ We learn of his domineering, musical father and his ‘brilliant but troubled’ mother, Sannie Abader, his Cape Flats ‘Ma’ who did most of the child-raising, as well as other colourful family members.  Born in Cape Town in 1945, he has performed over 20 plays and over 30 revues and one-man shows, which he used during the Apartheid years as a satirical medium to criticise the racial absurdities of the South African Government. This is an engaging account of his remarkable life.
