Product Description

Ondaatje new title, Warlight, is set in London in 1945, and tells the story of 14-year-old Nathaniel and his 16-year-old sister, Rachel, who, when their parents disappear on as mysterious mission, are left in the care of a boarder they refer to as The Moth. The Moth, and his strange circle of friends inhabit a shadowy, clandestine world of war-torn London. The story then switches to a now-adult Nathaniel, who, and in order to understand the mystery behind various half-remembered incidents, as well as the role his Mother played as a wartime spy, embarks on a process of fact-finding. Ondaatje’s beautiful and evocative prose captures the nature of memory itself – its sharply perceived flashes of detail in recall: mesmeric and captivating.
