Perhaps it’s appropriate to end this newsletter with a healthy cookbook. For those who have joined the ranks of the banters, and have worked through the most successful cookbooks: Real Meal Revolution and Low-Carb Living for Families, here is a fabulous new set of really easy-to-cook, sensible, delicious and family-orientated low carb, wheat-free and sugar-free recipes. Wait until you see the puddings! Reynierse has created some low-carb versions of a couple of real South African favourites such as: bobotie, mac n‘cheese and curry and rice. She gives great advice too – from stocking and buying ingredients, to preparation tips. And back to the puddings…. I have tried the cheat’s 10-minute chocolate cake, the carrot cake and the quick ice-cream for an ice-cream maker – and all were fabulous. And these are just a few; there are plenty more. Besides banting-friendly recipes for complete meals, she also has a wonderful selection of sauces, dressings, breads, icings, cool drinks and smoothies so you can bant away and yet still enjoy some variety.
