Prins is a study in masculinity. It is an interrogation of boyhood and manhood, but this collection is also a celebration of the less toxic parts thereof. Although the collection explores characters of a certain community and background, Pedro refuses to tell the cliché – expected – narrative. This collection deals with the angst that is tied to issues of identity, the demands placed on an emerging poet and coloured man.
