Given that Wolf Kahn works in nearly violent colours, his paintings are wonderfully tranquil; exercises in chromatic tension and formal movement, they are also sharply evocative of real-world landscapes. His paintings, such as Tall Pines, embody the synthesis of realism and the formal discipline of colour field painting.

Kahn has received Fulbright and Guggenheim fellowships, and his works are in many collections, including those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
